Top 4 MUST HAVES in Your at Home Skincare Routine!

Taking care of your skin is important, especially when it comes to preventing aging and protecting it from the sun. Having a skincare routine will help keep your skin healthy and glowing. Here are the top four products you MUST HAVE in your skincare routine at home.

check list

Sunscreen:

  1. The first and most important product to have in your skincare routine is sunscreen. Sunscreen helps protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun. It helps prevent sunburn and reduces the risk of skin cancer. Using sunscreen daily helps reduce the signs of sun damage and aging.  Make sure to apply sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days, and reapply every two hours if you are outside for a long time. Your daily sunscreen should have at least an SPF 30. And, no, the sunscreen in your makeup does not count!

Anti-oxidant:

  1. Antioxidants are ingredients that help protect your skin from free radicals, which can cause damage to your skin cells. They help prevent aging and keep your skin looking healthy. Some common antioxidants include vitamin C, vitamin E, and green tea extract. Using an antioxidant in the morning and applying your sunscreen on top is a great way to maximize the protective benefits of both products. They are your morning power couple!

Retinol:

  1. Retinol is a type of vitamin A that is better tolerated than the traditional prescription Tretinoin. Retinols help improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone. It can also help unclog pores and prevent acne. Retinol should be applied at night, as it can make your skin sensitive to the sun. Start with a low concentration and gradually increase over time. It’s important to use a medical grade retinol from lines such as ZO Skin Health or Skinbetter. Over the counter retinols tend to be weaker and less effective. Go medical grade to assure you are getting the best potency and deliverability.

Exfoliator:

  1. Exfoliators help remove dead skin cells and unclog pores, leaving your skin looking brighter and smoother. They can be physical, such as a scrub, or chemical, such as glycolic and salicylic acids. .  The key to exfoliation is LIGHT and CONSISTENT. Your aesthetician can help you choose an exfoliator that you can use without irritation, redness or flaking. And using a gentle exfoliator regularly helps promote cellular turnover which leaves the skin fresh and even toned.

Having a skincare routine can help keep your skin healthy and glowing. Make sure to include sunscreen, retinol, anti-oxidants, and an exfoliator in your routine to see the best results. Remember to be gentle with your skin and always use products that are suitable for your skin type.

In office procedures give great results, but it is your job to take care of and maintain those results by maximizing your at home routine!
